About Us

Makes Sense Studio is a ceramic studio and creative space in Naujamiestis, Vilnius.

It started with three friends, Eglė, Atėnė and Klaudija, who met while studying at the Kaunas School of Applied Arts. We shared a love for making things by hand, and with time, the idea of having a space of our own started to grow. A place where we could work, experiment, share what we know and bring people together.

The name Makes Sense is quite simple. Making things with our hands has always made sense to us. Working with clay makes you slow down and pay attention to what you are doing. It takes time, and you can't rush every part of the process. We like that about it.

We work mainly with stoneware clay, fired at high temperatures to make it strong and durable for everyday use. Every piece goes through a long process in our studio, from forming and drying to glazing and firing. Most of it is done by hand, so small differences in shape, colour and surface naturally happen. We don't try to hide them. They are part of the process and part of what makes each piece individual.

The studio grew from the same way of thinking. We care about good design and craftsmanship, but we also want making ceramics to feel approachable. You don't need to know exactly what you're doing when you walk through the door. Sometimes the nicest part is simply sitting down, working with clay and seeing where it takes you.

Today, the studio is a place for workshops, open studio sessions, exhibitions and community events. People come here for different reasons. Some want to learn ceramics, some are looking for a place to develop their own work, and some just want a few hours away from their usual routine.

For us, Makes Sense is a working studio, but it is also a place to meet, make things and spend time together. We hope people feel comfortable here, leave with new ideas and want to come back.
